 Salem High School Class of 1959 - Latest News 02-11-2010 - Karen Klein Whelan Our classmate Karen Klein Whelan has become ill with cancer.  Carol Ward Outtrim e-mailed Ray Esterly on February 8, 2010, with news of Karen's illness and asked that he share that with the class.  We are posting Carol's message here so that it can be shared with those who may not have received Ray's e-mail.  To quote Carol: 'We need to have some good prayers for Karen. She just found out 4 weeks ago that she has Lung Cancer. She is in Chemo right now and doing pretty good. She is responding so far and they will know more in about 3 weeks how the treatments are working .  I will keep you posted on her progress.  Thanks to everyone for their love and concern for her and her family.' On February 11, 2010, Carol replied: 'Yes, to all of the above (to post news of Karen's illness on our website and suggest cards be sent). It would mean a lot to Karen and it would help give her more courage.  She has many Friends and Family in her area and she is very happy for that. The more the better....She has a very strong faith and that helps.'
