06-14-2010 - Update on Karen Klein Whelan
A message from Karen that was forwarded by Carol Ward Outtrim:
Thought you might like to pass this along. We are looking forward to our walk. Thanks to all our clasmmates and friends that have been praying and thinking of Karen.
The following is from Karen..............
Just a short note to let you all know I am doing OK. I have this week off from the chemo drip but still taking "the pill" daily. Some of the side effects are frustrating but so it goes.
The 25th of this month I'll be walking the survivior's lap at our local Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Several friends (Larry & Carol Outtrim, Tucson; Rich & Karen Zahursky, Portland;
Helen Bell, Los Angeles; and Dixie Schmid, Ohio) are coming to cheer me on and join me in walking other times in the 24-hour relay. Of course I'm only scheduled for two other hours during that time and that's not during the night!
My brother, Walt Klein, was here last week on a long-haul truck driving trip from Denver to Sumner (a town next to Puyallup for those of you not familiar with this area). It was great seeing him and having him stay overnight at our home.
Please continue your prayers that our Lord will watch over me as He so graciously has since I learned of my cancer at the end of December. It's been wonderful receiving your prayers, cards and calls and it really helps to keep my spirits up.
